Etwas Kommt Mir Bekannt Vor

Allex. Fassberg, Franziska Stuhr, Hannah Albrecht
Schauspielhaus Graz [Österreich]
Multimediales Hörstück

60 minutes

A night bus journey through Europe. At a border, police officers board the bus and check the passengers' passports. Two people are led off the bus, then the journey continues as if nothing had happened. The multimedia audio piece ‘Etwas Kommt Mir Bekannt Vor’ (Something Seems Familiar) revolves around this event. The voices of the remaining passengers can be heard. Their thoughts, brief conversations and social media posts piece together what has just happened. Some of the passengers are shocked, others cheer the crackdown by the authorities, while others are tired, annoyed and just want to finally arrive at their destination. The fact is: no one asked what had just happened. Allex. Fassberg's play won the Retzhofer Drama Prize in 2017 and has lost none of its relevance. Poetic and at the same time analytically precise, the text describes the politics of European isolationism, the power of privilege and the paralysing force of collective passivity. For while the passengers are still busy trying to make sense of what has happened, for others, the facts have long since been established. Director Franziska Stuhr, with Hannah Albrecht from the Sound Design programme at FH JOANNEUM and KUG at her side, stages the theatre text as a multimedia audio play.
